Cleaning & Laundry

Cleaning Supplies

General Cleaners:

Thieves Household Cleaner Tough on germs and grime, great for removing stains!  I love DIY products, but this is one product that’s nice to have around the house.  I add it to my furniture polish, use it to clean cupboards, my floors, the stove … Cleaning has never made me smile so much! 😉

DIY Glass Cleaner:

For your dishes:

DIY Liquid Dish Soap Wonderful on dishes and yet gentle on your hands. Another option would be Thieves Dish Soap. I like to keep a foaming hand pump near the kitchen sink. This is the recipe I use:

Foaming hand soap:

2-3 Tbs. liquid soap (unscented Castile’s or Thieves Dish Soap)

7-10 drops Thieves essential oil

5-7 drops of orange essential oil

Fill with water. (You can substitute your choice of essential oils)

Dishwashing Detergent – A quick and easy recipe for powdered detergent for your dishwasher. I have also used Wave dish detergent as well as Thieves Automatic Dishwasher Powder.

Laundry Products

Laundry Detergent:

Soap Nuts – Cost effective, non-toxic and environmentally friendly.  I buy mine in bulk from our local co-op in Janesville, WI.

Thieves Laundry Detergent – We live on a farm and so clothes can get pretty grubby here (slight understatement). I have yet to meet anything that the Thieves laundry soap can’t take care of. For tough stains and odors, I spot treat with diluted Thieves Household Cleaner (see above). Super simple.

Fabric Softener:

Wool Dryer BallsThis link will take you to a recipe I’ve posted for dryer balls. I haven’t used fabric softener in years! If you wish to add scent to your clothes, simply put 6-10 drops of your choice of essential oils on the dryer balls and then toss them for approx. 15 minutes with your dry clothes on the “cool down” cycle.
